- CD Index measures a relative performance index for CD-ROM drives. This
- number converges towards a constant number based on seek time and data
- transfer rate for any specific ROM drive / computer / test disc
- combination. Computer system changes such as clock speed, buss speed,
- ROM drivers and, Operating System can alter the CD Index value. CD Index
- permits rapid comparisons between systems or between changes within a
- system from a measured performance point of view.
